This specimen was lot 3601 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $493.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Baden. Taler, 1870. NGC MS-64. Underlying luster complimented by very sharp details. Toned. From the Rockaway Collection." This type was issued 1865-71 in some numbers but is today scarce in nice condition. It is the last thaler issued prior to unification. The grand duchy issued coins until 1918.
