This specimen was lot 30806 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Baden. Leopold I Taler 1837 MS64 NGC. Very original, with very attractive old cabinet deep gray toning. The slightest bit of rub on the high points prevent this coin from achieving true Gem Mint State status, but in terms of eye appeal, it ranks among those that are its technical superiors." Davenport lists this type for 1830-37; the SCWC divides this issue into two subtypes with a slight modification of the bust in 1832. The type is scarce.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
