This specimen was lot 35249 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 50 Schilling, 1965. Vienna Mint. PCGS PROOF-67. Tied for the finest certified at PCGS." This commemorative, with the bust of founder Charles IV, honors the 600th anniversary of the university of Vienna. This format was used for circulating commemoratives 1959-73, then reduced to 0.640 fine silver thereafter.
Recorded Mintage: 2,163,000 plus 37,000 proofs.
Specification: 20 g, 0.900 fine silver, 34 mm diameter.
