This specimen was lot 72130 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 25 Schilling, 1961. NGC PROOF-66 Cameo. Struck to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Burgenland. Charmingly frosted devices with highly mirrored fields, this piece presents a great cameo appeal." The Burgenland is not one of the ancient duchies of Austria such as Tyrol or Styria. Originally part of the Hungarian crown, it was awarded to Austria in 1919 as part of the treaty of Versailles.

Recorded mintage: 1,399,000 + 1,000 proofs.

Specification: 13 g, 0.800 fine silver, 30 mm diameter.
