This specimen was lot 34383 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $160. The catalog description^[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Schilling, 1961. PCGS PROOF-65 Secure Holder. From the Demarete Collection." The specimen shown is an example of a type struck in Austria, 1959-2001. This date is common but the proofs are rare. Austria began minting euros in 2002, rendering this coin obsolete. The obverse features the edelweiss, the flower made famous by The Sound of Music.

Recorded mintage: 51,115,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 4.2 g, aluminum bronze, 22.5 mm diameter.
