JE161-1135r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1135 in Jean Elsen sale 161 (Brussels, March 2025), where it sold for €700 (about US$912 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"AUTRICHE, République (1918-), AV 25 Schilling, 1934. Rare. Nettoyé. Petites taches au revers. (republic of Austria, since 1918, gold twenty-five schilling of 1934. Rare, cleaned, minor stains on the reverse, Extremely Fine.)"

The SCWC, which lists this type for 1926-34, does not price this coin except in uncirculated, suggesting that it spent its life in bank vaults before entering the collector market.

Recorded mintage: 11,000.

Specification: 5.88 g, 0.900 fine gold, 21 mm diameter, designed by Arnold Hartig.

Catalog reference: Herinek 3, KM 2841, Jaeckel 436; Fr-521.
