This specimen was lot 5323 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $230. The catalog description[2] noted, "Austria. 2 Florin, 1879. Franz Joseph I. For the 25th wedding anniversary of the Emperor and Empress. NGC graded MS-63." The double florin superseded the old thaler and was struck 1859-92 with various busts of Franz Josef. This semi-medallic issue is included in Davenport but not in the SCWC. It doesn't seem to be rare.
Recorded mintage: 275,319.
Specification: 24.69 g, 0.900 fine silver, .714 troy oz AGW, lettered edge, 36 mm diameter.
