This specimen was lot 72127 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $110. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Florin, 1878. Vienna Mint. Franz Joseph I. PCGS MS-65. A fully argent Gem, this blazing example offers cartwheel radiance and beaming luster throughout its seemingly flawless surfaces." The florin superseded the old half thaler and was struck 1857-92 with various busts of Franz Josef. This date is common but the reported mintage seems outsize.

Recorded mintage: 18,963,072.

Specification: 12.34 g, 0.900 fine silver, 29.2 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Herinek 31, Veselý 67, KM 2222.
