This specimen was lot 2278 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$624 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. Dukat 1859 E, Karlsburg. Gutes sehr schön. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, ducat of 1859, Karlsburg mint. Good Very Fine.)"
This type was struck 1852-59 at Vienna, Kremnitz, Karlsburg, Milan and Venice and is somewhat available.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
