This specimen was lot 3335 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,281 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Ferdinand I. 1835-1848. Konventionstaler 1842 A, Wien. Fast FDC. Prachtexemplar. (empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, convention thaler of 1842, Vienna mint. About Mint State, Cabinet piece.)"
This thaler was issued 1837-48 from the Vienna mint and is fairly common. The Milan mint struck this type 1837-38; these are quite scarce.
Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.
