Austria 1813-E ducat Fr-216
This specimen was lot 2028 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$870 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835. Dukat 1813 A, Karlsburg. Fast vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Francis II (I), 1792-1835, ducat of 1813, Karlsburg mint. About Extremely Fine.)"
This ducat was issued 1811-15 at Vienna ("A"), Kremnitz ("B"), Karlsburg ("E", shown here) and Nagybanya (G) and is common. Friedberg lists this under Hungary but we have sided with the SCWC in filing this under Austria as it varies only in mintmark from the Vienna product.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.50 g.
