This specimen was lot 74491 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2024), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Holy Roman Empire. Taler, 1772-AS. Hall Mint. Maria Theresa. NGC AU-55. Draped in antique tones of azure and smoky gray, with only a touch of wear atop the portrait." This type was struck 1772-76 at the Hall mint and is common. The convention thaler, adopted in the 1750's, was 28.06 g, 0.833 fine, whereas earlier types were 28.82 g, 0.875 fine.
