Künker sale 423, lot 186

This specimen was lot 186 in Künker Auction 423 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €200 (about US$283 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. 1 Kreuzer 1742, Hall. Mit · HU · auf der Vorderseite und die Rückseite mit ARCHID · AV · DUX · BU · CO · TY · 1742 Brustbild r. mit Diadem und umgelegtem Mantel, unten die Wertzahl 1//Gekröntes Wappen mit dem Tiroler Adler. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion H. D. Rauch 36, Wien 1986, Nr. 2953. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, kreuzer of 1742, Hall mint, ith "HU" on the obverse. Obverse: diademed and mantled bust right, value below; reverse: crowned arms with Tyrolean eagle. Extremely rare.)"

This type was struck 1742-43 and has a low catalog value. Other kreuzers struck that year have the value on the reverse (KM 1686, 1687, 1689). One thaler was ninety kreuzer, soon to become 120 kreuzer on the introduction of e convention thaler.

Recorded mintage: 215,000 for 1742-43.
