Künker Auction 441, lot 4741

This specimen was lot 4741 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €900 (about US$1,238 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand II., 1592-1618-1637. Reichstaler 1637, Wien. Mit Münzzeichen von Virgil Constanz van Vestenburg auf der Vorderseite. Von großer Seltenheit. Hübsche Patina, sehr schön +. Aus der Sammlung Kommerzialrat Dr. Herbert Wenzel, Wien. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1618-37, thaler of 1637, Vienna mint, with VC mintmark for Virgil Constanz on the obverse. Extremely rare, handsome patina, very fine or better.)"

This type was struck at Vienna 1625-38 and is common. This mintmark, a VC monogram in a circle, was used 1636-38.
