Austria 1460 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 6499 in CNG Triton XXIX (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $159.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA, Tyrol (County). Sigismund. 1439-1490. AR Kreuzer. Meran mint. Dated 1460. Crowned eagle facing with wings spread, head left / Long cross pattée over short cross saltire. Lightly toned, faint scratches, bent. Near VF. From the Robert Levinson Collection." Meran (Merano in Italian) was the capital of the Tyrol in the Middle Ages but lost that status in 1420. The mint was moved to Hall in 1477 to be closer to the new silver mines which were making archduke Sigismund rich.
