This specimen was lot 3408 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €8,000 (about US$10,783 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Erzherzog Ferdinand Karl, 1632-1662. 5 Dukaten o. J. (1646), Hall, auf seine Volljährigkeit und die Erbhuldigung in Innsbruck. GOLD. RR Kleines, sauber gestopftes Loch, sehr schön. Die Vorderseite des vorliegenden Stückes wurde im Sommer 1646 von Matthias König geschnitten und für die Rückseite wurde die 1635 von Christof Amende geschnittene Halbtalerwelle gewählt. (Holy Roman Empire, archduke Ferdinand Charles, 1632-62, undated five ducats, Hall mint, on his coronation in Innsbruck. Rare, cleaned, plugged. The obverse die was engraved in 1646 and the reverse was engraved in 1635, originally for a half thaler issue.)"
This is one of the few gold issues of this prince, who never attained the imperial crown.
