The catalog description[1] noted, "Australia: George VI Proof Restrike 1/2 Penny 1942-I PR64 Red PCGS, Bombay mint. An incredible example of this famed Bombay Proof Restrike, reportedly struck around 1964 for Australian collectors who craved further examples of their coinage produced in Bombay during the second World War. Especially desirable in full red and without evidence of handing, as is the case for this impressive near-Gem selection." This type was struck in large quantities at Melbourne, Perth and Bombay (shown here). Bombay participated in producing these in 1942-43 only. Varieties of this issue include wide date, narrow date and proof. The circulation strikes are not rare.

Specification: 5.7 g, bronze, 25.5 mm diameter.
