This specimen was lot 20400 in Heritage sale 3008 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $2,185. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Australia. George V Florin 1911, AU58 NGC, highly lustrous with just a trace of wear on the high points of the bust. Very scarce date in this quality." This type was struck 1911-36 at London (shown here), Heaton, Sydney and Melbourne. The dates prior to the late twenties are scarce, especially in nice condition. Australia maintained the sterling silver standard until 1945, years after Great Britain had debased her coins to 0.500 fine.
