This specimen was lot 3948 in Goldberg sale 90 (Los Angeles, January 2016), where it sold for $340.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States - Augsburg. ½ Taler, 1760-T. Bust of Francis I, right. Reverse: Pine cone in crowned frame. Lightly toned. Scarce. NGC graded AU-55." This half thaler is the only reasonably common issue of the denomination in the eighteenth century. The bust of the Emperor indicates the city's fealty to him only and not the neighboring Duke of Bavaria or Bishop of Augsburg.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM-173.
