Argentina 1975 50 centavos rev DSLR.jpg

This type, struck 1970-76, features a revival of Oudiné's capped bust of Liberty first used in 1881. Varieties exist in the spacing of the reeding. All dates are common. Raging inflation, a problem which still afflicts Argentina, made its circulating life brief. In 1970, 100 old pesos = 1 new peso; in 1983, 10000 pesos = 1 peso argentino; in 1985, 1000 pesos argentinos = 1 austral. Another reform would occur again in 1992.

Recorded mintage: 64,859,000.

Specification: 4.35 g, aluminum bronze, 21 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 68.
