Künker sale 400, lot 672

This specimen was lot 672 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €60,000 (about US$77,838 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SPANIEN, KÖNIGREICH, Fernando V. 1452-1516. 4 Dukaten o. J. Zaragoza. x FeRDInanDUS : R : DeI : GRaCIa : aRaGOn : Va Gekrönte Büste l. zwischen vier Sternen und den Buchstaben C - A//+TRIVMFATOR : ET : CATOLICVS : CRISTIANIS Gekrönter Wappenschild zwischen Sternen und den Buchstaben L - S. . GOLD. Von größter Seltenheit. Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Goldpatina, min. gewellt, sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Huntington, Auktion Jesus Vico 131, Madrid 2012, Nr. 907. (kingdom of Spain, Ferdinand V, 1452-1516, undated four ducats, Zaragoza mint. Obverse: crowned bust left between four stars and the letters "C - A"; reverse: crowned arms between stars and the letters "L - S". Extremely rare, attractive example with fine gold patina, slightly wavy, very fine. Ex-Huntington Collection.)"

In addition to the ten ducats shown here, the Zaragoza mint also struck ten ducats (Cayón-2348), a double ducat (Cayón-2344) and a single ducat (Cayón-2336). None are common but the two larger denominations are extremely rare.
