This specimen was lot 71106 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Anhalt-Bernburg. 2/3 Taler, 1799-HS. Alexius Friedrich Christian. NGC AU-53. Fairly deeply toned, this minor presents some even handling and light spotting, but nevertheless remains entirely original." This coin was equal to a gulden or 24 mariengroschen. A gulden was two-thirds of a thaler at the beginning of the century but dropped to half a thaler after the mid-century reform, as the weight ("XX EINE FEINE MARK") makes clear.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM-71.
