Steve Album Auction 52, lot 1075

This specimen was lot 1075 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "ANGUILLA: Elizabeth II, 1952-2022, AR 25 dollars, 1968, 1st Anniversary of Independence, with bust of Ronald Webster, first president of the council, a stunning reflective rarely encountered proof, PCGS graded Proof 67 DCAM. Tied with one other example for finest graded (Top Pop) at PCGS." Just about all of the island's coinage was struck in 1969-70. This NCLT was likely struck then and not in 1968. It was accompanied by a 200 dollars (KM 27) in gold and 1500 dollars (KM 28) in platinum. The East Caribbean dollar (US$1 = EC$2.70) is used for ordinary transactions. Ronald Webster (1926-2016), who led the independence movement, was chief minister 1976-77 and 1980-84.

Recorded mintage: unknown but all proofs.

Specification: 31 g, 0.999 fine silver, 40 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-26.
