Alderney 2006 5 pounds KM-133
This specimen was lot 74262 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $2,340. The catalog description[1] noted, "ALDERNEY. 5 Pounds, 2006. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Struck to commemorate the 80th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. A charming and near flawless specimen, yielding intense cameo contrast and much beauty." Alderney was not granted the right to coin until 1989, and has used it only to issue NCLT's. This denomination was used for numerous NCLT's in 2006, including KM 70, 126, 127, 128, 129, 132, 133, 138, 139, 140, 141, 142, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, 149, 150, 151, 152. Most were struck in multiple formats (copper-nickel, silver and gold).
