Al-Andalus AH 519 dinar
This specimen was lot 1317 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN (Al-Andalus), Almoravids, Al Marīya (Almería) المرية, AV dinar, 'Ali ibn Yusuf, 519 AH (1125 AD), date with units in feminine form, very rare, NGC MS 61, ex-Tonegawa. Bold strike, rich gold color, slightly undulating flan. NGC #8437663-004. Pedigreed to the Tonegawa Collection (stated on label), Auction III (Aureo & Calicó 453, June 2025, lot 406)." This type was struck at twenty mints in Morocco (Tlemcen, Marrakesh, Fez) and Spain (Seville, Valencia, Granada, Malaga, Murcia, etc.). The Almoravid empire collapsed under Almohad attacks in 1146 AD.
