This specimen was lot 2430 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $142.80. The catalog description[1] noted, "TIMURID: Sulayman Mirza, 1529-1584, AV ¼ ashrafi, ND, bold VF, R, ex Jim Farr Collection." Sulayman Mirza was lord of Badakhshan province in what is now the northeast corner of Afghanistan. Today the major exports are lapis lazuli and opium.
