Heritage sale 3064, lot 33289

This specimen was lot 33289 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $300. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Penny 1839 MS64 Brown PCGS. Luster is subdued, although surfaces are quite clean and free of significant marks and all devices struck to the greatest level of detail." Copper farthings, halfpennies and pennies were struck for the Isle of Man in 1839 but large scale production was never undertaken. Proofs of the pennies are known for 1841 and 1859.

Recorded mintage: 81,000 plus proofs.
