The first specimen was lot 21320 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,150. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Proof Halfpenny 1839, Proof 64 RB NGC, a highly lustrous example with considerable sheen to the surfaces. Rarely seen as a Proof and the first example we have offered. Much rarer than the Proof Farthing and Penny of the same date. Missing from most major collections of Isle of Man coins." The second specimen was lot 33288 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[2] noted, "Victoria 1/2 Penny 1839 MS64 Red and Brown PCGS, KM 13. A well-struck example of the type with underlying red color still visible across the surfaces." Copper farthings, halfpennies and pennies were struck for the Isle of Man in 1839 but large scale production was never undertaken. Proofs of the halfpennies are known for 1841 and 1860.
