Heritage sale 3042, lot 32859
Cuba H3042-32859r.jpg

This specimen was lot 32859 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $705. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Peso 1935 MS64 PCGS. "ABC" type. A stunning coin with sumptuous golden toning. A premium specimen in this state of preservation." The type was struck in the United States for Cuba 1934-39 using silver dollar blanks. Most were held in government vaults as backing for paper currency and later melted; the original mintage has little bearing on the number of survivors.

Recorded mintage: 12,500,000.

Specification: 26.73 g, .900 fine silver, .773 troy oz AGW, 38 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-22.
