Honduras 1893/1 peso
This specimen was lot 1166 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONDURAS, Tegucigalpa, 1 peso, 1893/1, rare, NGC VF details / cleaned. Typically weakly struck but with full rims, a few small marks and dark speckles in addition to surface hairlines, but the all-important overdate quite clear (key to the series, missing in many strong collections)." This type was struck 1883-95, 1899, 1902-04 and 1914. Overdates abound; no plain date 1893's are known. The peso was dropped in favor of the lempira in 1931.
