Bermuda 1970 cent
Bermuda became a crown colony of Great Britain in 1684, and remains a British colony to the present. The type shown was struck 1970-1985 and this issue is from the first year of decimal coinage. All dates are common in all grades as many were saved by sunburned tourists. The mintage seems out of proportion to the population (c. 52,000 in 1970, c. 63,000 today). Proofs were made in 1970 and 1983.
Recorded mintage: 5,500,000 plus 11,000 proofs.
Specification: 3.11 g, bronze, 19 mm diameter.
