Stack's Bowers February 2022 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73001

This specimen was lot 73001 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN. Rupee, AH 1232 Year 8 (1816). Peshawar Mint. Mahmud Shah (Second Reign). PCGS MS-64. Exceedingly lustrous and intricate, this gleaming Rupee presents much to be desired. With a fairly centered strike and near-uniformly argent surfaces, it is perfectly suited for both field specialists and type collectors." This type was struck for Mahmud Shah's second reign and is known for years 8-10. It has a low catalog value.
