This specimen was lot 73001 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN. Rupee, AH 1232 Year 8 (1816). Peshawar Mint. Mahmud Shah (Second Reign). PCGS MS-64. Exceedingly lustrous and intricate, this gleaming Rupee presents much to be desired. With a fairly centered strike and near-uniformly argent surfaces, it is perfectly suited for both field specialists and type collectors." This type was struck for Mahmud Shah's second reign and is known for years 8-10. It has a low catalog value.
