This specimen was lot 74588 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. Cob Real, 1685-L R. Lima Mint. Charles II. PCGS EF-45. From the Richard August Collection." The regime in Madrid finally permitted the viceroy in Lima to reopen the mint in 1684. This type was struck 1684-1701 for the degenerate Charles II. Assayer R is listed for 1685-91.
