H3067-34028o.jpg
Eichstatt, NW of Ingolstadt and SE of Ansbach, c. 1547

This specimen was lot 34028 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted,

"German States: Johann Anton II 3 Kreuzer (Groschen) ND (1755)-MNL MS66 Prooflike NGC. A stellar prooflike issue by the bishropric of Eichstatt in Bavaria. Detail is razor sharp, set against glasslike fields with a light silver and amber tone. The present piece is leagues beyond the other examples that this cataloger could find and must be appreciated in hand to be done full justice. Listed at $1000 in XF in Krause. From the Feeling Good Collection."

The bishopric of Eichstatt, now in Bavaria, occasionally issued coins. This undated three kreuzer is attributed to 1750-55 by the SCWC. This and KM 23 are all the three kreuzer issued by this state.
