Netherlands 1822-B cent
This specimen was lot 1277 in Jean Elsen sale 144 (Brussels, March 2020), where it sold for €60 (about US$79 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume des Pays-Bas, Guillaume Ier (1815-1830), Cu 1 cent, 1822B, Bruxelles. Très Beau. (Belgium, United Kingdom of the Netherlands, William I, 1815-30, copper cent of 1822, Brussels mint. Very Fine.)"
This type was struck in Utrecht and Brussels 1817-37 for William I. The 1822-B is somewhat scarce. After Belgium obtained her independence in 1830, the Brussels mint continued striking for the new country while the Utrecht mint operates to this day for the Dutch government.
Recorded mintage: 5,739,142, a better date.
