Saxe-Weimar 1612-WA thaler Dav-7527
This specimen was lot 3834 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €260 (about US$368 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN-WEIMAR, HERZOGTUM, AB 1741 SACHSEN-WEIMAR-EISENACH, AB 1815 GROSSHERZOGTUM Johann Ernst und seine sieben Brüder, 1605-1619. Reichstaler 1612, Saalfeld. Fast sehr schön. (duchy of Saxe-Weimar, John Ernest and his seven brothers, thaler of 1612, Saalfeld mint. About very fine.)"
This type was struck 1612-16 in Saxe-Weimar and is among the more common thalers of the period. The eight brothers depicted were co-rulers of the tiny state; the last one, William IV, died in 1662. KM 1/Dav-7523 and KM 10/Dav-7525 were other thalers also struck in 1612.
