Heritage sale 3032, part of lot 31065

This specimen was part of lot 31065 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), which sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI and Elizabeth II Group of Large Denomination Silver, 50 Cents: 1943, 1944, 1948; Dollars: 1945, 1946, 1947 - Blunt 7, 1950 Arnprior, 1952 NWL, 1955 Arnprior; All are UNC with minimal tone." This type was struck 1937-47 with the wartime issues of 1940-45 being the most common. Silver was removed from the fifty cent piece in 1968.

Recorded mintage: 2,460,205.

Specification: 11.66 g, 0.800 fine silver, .300 troy oz ASW, 29.72 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Th. Paget and G. E. Kruger-Gray.
