Künker sale 293, lot 2097

This specimen was lot 2097 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €160 (about US$216 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NORWEGEN, KÖNIGREICH, Christian VII. 1766-1808. 2 Skilling 1800, Kongsberg. Feine Tönung, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (kingdom of Norway, Christian VII, 1766-1808, two skilling of 1800, Kongsberg mint. Fine toning, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type of 1800-07 is common in circulated condition. Other issues for 1800 include a 1/15 specie daler (KM 271), 1/5 specie daler (KM 272) and 1/3 specie daler (KM 266). The Danes were forced to surrender Norway to Sweden in 1814.

Recorded mintage: 2,419,000.
