Australia 1927 florin KM-27
This specimen was lot 29055 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Florin 1927-(M) MS64 PCGS, Melbourne mint. Extremely desirable with steel-gray patina hugging the devices, particularly on the reverse. Both sides of this specimen display fully-luminous mint bloom and precisely defined features. A select example, as well as a fantastic representative of the series. From The Prager Collection Of Australian Coins." Australia maintained the sterling silver standard until 1945, years after Great Britain had debased her coins to 0.500 fine. A commemorative (KM 31) honoring the opening of the new Parliament in Canberra, was extensively saved and is today much more available than the regular issue (KM 27).
