This specimen was lot 23543 in Heritage sale 3015 (Long Beach, September 2011), where it sold for $460. The catalog description^[1] noted, "George V Florin 1914H, XF40 NGC, toned with traces of luster in the legends, rare date in this grade." This type was struck 1911-36 at London, Heaton (shown here), Sydney and Melbourne. The dates prior to the late twenties are scarce, especially in nice condition. Australia maintained the sterling silver standard until 1945, years after Great Britain had debased her coins to 0.500 fine.
