Netherlands 2017 ducat

Jean Elsen sale 155, lot 1958

This specimen was lot 1958 in Jean Elsen sale 155 (Brussels, June 2023), where it sold for €210 (about US$275 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, Koninkrijk, Willem-Alexander (2013-), AV dukaat, 2017. Oplage 2501 st. Gepolijste Stempel. (kingdom of the Netherlands, William Alexander, since 2013, gold ducat of 2017. Proof.)"

The Netherlands was the last country to strike ducats on a regular basis. This modernized type was struck beginning in 1986 and sold to bullion investors. The most recent date listed in the SCWC is 2012. Similar double ducats exist.

Recorded mintage: 2,501.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.983 fine gold, 21 mm diameter, reeded edge.
