Utrecht 1743 ducat Fr-285
This specimen was lot 243 in Schulman auction 385 (Amsterdam, July 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"UTRECHT Provincie 1581 - 1795. Dukaat, 1743, Gold Type IIIa. Ridder met zwaard en pluim aan de helm tussen jaartal, zonder binnencirkel en zonder omschrift tussen de voeten. Kz. vierkant met tekst. Gladde rand. RRR. NGC MS62. Prachtig +. (province of Utrecht, 1581-1795, gold ducat of 1743, type IIIa. Obverse: knight with sword and plumed helmet divides the date, no inner circle and no lettering between his feet; reverse: tablet with inscription; plain edge. Very rare, choice extremely fine, NGC MS62.)"
The type is recorded from Utrecht 1702-94; each province of the Netherlands issued its own coins. KM 7.1 covers the hammered issues of 1649-1743 while KM 7.4 covered the milled ducats of 1679-1794.
