Austria 2004 25 euro KM-3109
This specimen was lot 74333 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 25 Euros, 2004. Vienna Mint. CHOICE UNCIRCULATED. Commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Semmering Alpine Railway. An interesting and ultra-modern design, featuring a niobium center within a silver ring." Niobium was briefly popular as a coinage metal for NCLT's as it can be anodized in different colors. This coin is not legal tender outside of Austria.
