This specimen was lot 2489 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA: 25 euro, 2003, bi-metallic silver & niobium, City of Hall in Tyrol, satellite mapping the city from outer space // depiction of the die face used to strike the 1486 guldiner coin, with box and certificate, Brilliant Unc." Niobium, element 41, is like aluminum in that it can be anodized. By varying the thickness of the anodized coating, different colors can be obtained (blue in this case).
Recorded mintage: 50,000.
Specification: 17.12 g, bimetallic (niobium center in a 0.900 fine silver outer ring), 34 mm diameter, plain edge.
