Straits Settlements 1920 dollar
The first specimen was lot 1131 in Stephen Album sale 27 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: George V, 1910-1936, AR dollar, 1920. Lightly cleaned, Unc." This type was struck for the Straits Settlements (now Malaysia and Singapore) in 1919-20 with a few rare proofs struck 1925-26. The Straits Settlements dollar, originally 26.95 g, 0.900 fine silver in 1903-04, dropped to 20.21 g, 0.900 fine for 1907-09 and to this specification for this issue. Despite the massive mintage, it is not common.
Recorded mintage: 8,164,000.
Specification: 16.85 g, 0.500 fine silver, 34.1 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-33.
