Tunisia 1928-A 10 francs
This type was struck in AH 1347 in the name of Muhammad al-Sadio Bey. By this point in Tunisian history, the Ottomans had lost influence and France had gained control through debt ownership, making the Tunisia a protectorate. From 1881-1902 AD, coins were struck in the name of the Tunisian Bey. In 1891 the old denomination system was abandoned and the decimal system used.
The specimen shown is a 10 francs in gold, struck in Paris (A mint mark). It was lot 1549 in Steve Album Auction #11 on Sept. 16, 2011, and did not sell. The catalog description reads: "Lot 1549 TUNISIA: Muhammad al-Habib, 1922-1929, AV 10 francs, Paris, 1928/AH1347, prooflike fields, Brilliant Uncirculated."
