Luzern 1742-IT schilling
This specimen was lot 3355 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$185 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Luzern, Schilling 1742, Luzern. Stempelschneider Jonas Thiébaud. Seine Initialen I T auf der Vorderseite unterhalb des Wappens. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, schilling of 1742, Luzern mint, engraver's initials "IT" on the obverse under the arms. About extremely fine.)"
This type was also struck in 1742. The figure on the reverse is St. Leodegar, martyred Burgundian Bishop of Autun (d. 679 AD). The next issue of schillinge would be in 1794-95 (KM 85). Half batzen (KM 68) were also struck in 1742.
