Luzern 1638 batzen

This specimen was lot 2853 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$300 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND, Lucerne, Stadt und Kanton, Batzen 1638. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. (city and canton of Lucerne, batzen of 1638. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine.)"
This one year type is the last of the denomination listed for the seventeenth century. Ten rappen made a batzen and forty batzen made a thaler.
