Sincona sale 92, lot 76

This specimen was lot 76 in Sincona sale 92 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$693 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN Qajar Dynasty, Fath-'Ali Shah, 1212-1250 AH (1797-1834). 1/4 Kran 1237 AH (1821/1822), Tehran Mint. Selten, unpublizierte Münzstätte, Leicht gereinigt, FDC, Rare, unlisted mint. Mint State. Lightly cleaned. Purchased from A. Karimi, London, in 1999."

The SCWC lists this type for AH 1236 only. Similar type D half krans (KM 702.5) were struck AH 1236-1240. After the conversion to milled coinage, the quarter kran became 250 dinars.
